Health & Safety Training Courses

Health & safety training is an important part of a business as it helps to provide a safer working environment for staff and customers and therefore reduces the risk of accidents and possible legal action.

All our training courses and tutors are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).  This means the qualifications obtained by candidates are nationally recognised throughout the UK.

We offer a range of courses which are suitable for most day to day training requirements of small and medium sized businesses.

Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (Refresher)

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health recommend that Level 2 Health & Safety Awards are refreshed every three years to ensure the continued updating of knowledge.

This course covers responsibilities for health and safety, understanding hazards and risks, how workplace and equipment design affects health & safety and what systems are necessary to ensure health & safety in the workplace.

The course takes the form of candidates completing a course workbook within 2 hours of their own time and then attending a one hour discussion, followed by a 30 question multiple choice assessment.

This course is designed to enable candidates to understand the basic principles of risk assessment. It will therefore give all employees the ability to contribute to the process of devising risk assessments.

The main subject areas covered are the main causes of accidents and ill health, the legal requirements for risk assessment and the principles of risk assessment (hazards, risks, control measures, risk assessment review and record keeping etc).

The course runs for a full day and ends with a 30 question multiple choice assessment.

Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling

This course is designed to introduce candidates to the potential hazards and risks involved in manual handling operations and also covers what to expect from a manual handling assessment, thereby enabling them to develop safer manual handling practices in the workplace.

The course covers the manual handling activity, possible injuries and how they are caused, as well as the assessment of manual handling tasks.

It also covers the legal responsibilities of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended).

The course runs for a full day and ends with a 30 question multiple choice assessment.

Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH

This course is designed to enable candidates to understand the basics of using hazardous substances safely.

The course covers the definitions of hazardous substances, their health effects and the options for controlling hazardous substances. It also covers the risks when handling such substances and what to expect from a COSHH assessment.

The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplaces.

The course runs for a full day and ends with a 30 question multiple choice assessment.
